Cisco VPN configuration settings

Modification #1:

1) Select the 'Applications' Tab from the left menu

2) Double-Click on the 'System Services' application

3) Double-Click on the 'Netbios Datagrams (Client)' rule

4) Modify the rule with the following specifications (see screenshot):

  • Allow traffic

  • Incoming and Outgoing packets

  • UDP packets

  • local (network) - 1024-65535 (user)

  • remote (Internet) - 138 (manually enter in '138' as it is not offered in the dropdown menu)

  • High and Low security levels

5) Click the 'OK' button.
 


Modification #2:

1) Double-Click on the 'Cisco Systems VPN Client' application

2) Click on the 'Add New' button to add a new rule

3) Name the rule 'Allow UDP (17) : local (500), remote (500)' in the 'Description of rule' field. 

4) Create the rule with the following specifications (see screenshot):

  • Allow traffic

  • Incoming and outgoing packets

  • UDP packets

  • local (network) - 500 (manually enter in '500' as it is not offered in the dropdown menu)

  • remote (Internet) - 500 (manually enter in '500' as it is not offered in the dropdown menu)

  • High and Low security levels

5) Click the 'OK' button.
 


Modification #3:

1) Double-Click on the 'Cisco Systems VPN Client' application

2) Click on the 'Add New' button to add a new rule

3) Name the rule 'Allow TCP (6): local (1024-65535), remote (80)' in the 'Description of rule' field. 

4) Create the rule with the following specifications (see screenshot):

  • Allow traffic

  • Incoming and outgoing packets

  • TCP packets

  • local (network) - 1024-65535 (user)

  • remote (Internet) - 80 (www)

  • High and Low security levels

5) Click the 'OK' button.
 


Modification #4:

1) Double-Click on the 'Cisco Systems VPN Client' application

2) Click on the 'Add New' button to add a new rule

3) Name the rule 'Allow UDP (17) from remote (1024-65535) to local (1024-65535)' in the 'Description of rule' field. 

4) Create the rule with the following specifications (see screenshot):

  • Allow traffic

  • Incoming packets

  • UDP packets

  • local (network) - 1024-65535 (user)

  • remote (Internet) - 1024-65535 (user)

  • High and Low security levels

5) Click the 'OK' button.
