July 20,
2005 - Quest InTrust for Windows Enhanced to Support
Heterogeneous Environments
Former Quest InTrust
is Renamed, Now Part of Quest Compliance Suite for
Windows
IRVINE, Calif., July 20,
2005 – Quest
Software Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT), a leading provider of
application, database and infrastructure management
solutions, today announced general availability of Quest
InTrust for Windows version 8.5, which now collects
event log data from more than just Windows-based
systems. The product now features support for Linux,
Oracle databases and firewalls. At the same time, the
company introduces the Quest Compliance Suite for
Windows.
“Quest InTrust for Windows helps organizations comply
with external regulations and internal policies by
securely collecting, storing and reporting on
heterogeneous event data,” said David Waugh, vice
president, Product Management, Quest Software. “InTrust
for Windows is the keystone of our solutions that help
IT administrators meet ever-increasing compliance
demands, while giving them more secure administrative
control of the enterprise.”
New features in InTrust for Windows include:
-
Support for Linux
– InTrust now offers collection and real-time
monitoring of Syslog messages and custom text logs
for Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES3 and AS3.
-
Support for Oracle
databases –
Database logs are now collected and data access and
user management reporting is provided for Oracle
Databases 9i R1, 9i R2 and 10g.
-
Firewall log
collection and reporting
– InTrust now collects audit data from Checkpoint
Firewall-1 and the Cisco PIX Firewall. Pre-built
collection engines are provided for the Windows,
Solaris and Linux versions of Checkpoint and for the
Linux and Solaris versions of the Cisco PIX
platform.
-
Additional
collection and analysis features
– InTrust eases enterprise-wide data gathering by
including text-based logs and providing new wizards
for processing even complex log files. InTrust’s new
Adaptive Security Analyzer simplifies the process of
discovering network activity trends and detecting
security anomalies.
InTrust for Windows is a
key product in the Quest Compliance Suite for Windows,
which is made up of three products – InTrust for
Windows, InTrust for Active Directory and Reporter.
These solutions enable IT organizations to establish a
baseline of who has access to critical information, and
then to track how that access is used. Most importantly,
the products alert appropriate personnel in real time if
that access is used inappropriately. The Compliance
Suite automatically generates reports for compliance
purposes, including accesses to shared files, user and
administrative activity and elevations in access
permissions.
“To ensure confidence in critical enterprise IT and
application infrastructures, enlightened firms invest in
software products that can help them develop, deploy,
manage and maintain highly available systems in
accordance with the myriad of regulations. Software
products such as those that collect, store and report on
event log and configuration data offer significant
benefit because they represent solutions that are common
amongst many, if not all, external regulations,” writes
Adrian J. Bowles of the Robert Frances Group in his
white paper IT Compliance Strategies for Improved ROI.
