Privacyware Releases ThreatSentry™ 2.0 Windows Host Intrusion Prevention Software.

Enhanced Security Event Management and System Protection Features Reinforce Neural System Profiling and Anomaly Detection-based Intrusion Prevention Capabilities.

RED BANK, NJ – February 15, 2005 – Privacyware, the leader in advanced threat prevention and security data analysis solutions, today released ThreatSentry 2.0, its Intrusion Detection and Prevention System for Microsoft IIS Web servers. The enhanced security solution offers increased protection from known and new threats that target Windows Web servers and expanded administrative features that enable network security personnel to more effectively define and manage malicious and/or permissible activity within the host environment.

“ThreatSentry 2 has become standard issue on all of the production servers that we design and implement.” said STF Consulting CEO, Sean Furman. “Being able to detect anomalies within data that flows from the Internet to IIS on the application layer is a very powerful feature that takes over where traditional stateful packet inspection firewalls leave off. The fact that ThreatSentry has the ability to intuitively "blacklist" the offending IP after it exceeds the preset thresholds really impressed us. This allows us to have a completely set and forget proactive security solution for our clients that run IIS.”

ThreatSentry utilizes a knowledgebase of known exploitive techniques and attack characteristics, and a behavioral engine that organizes server requests into a multi-dimensional baseline of typical system activity. Each server request is checked against the knowledgebase and mapped to the system baseline to identify and take action against any activity falling outside trusted parameters. Implemented as an IIS ISAPI filter and Snap-In to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), ThreatSentry is designed to protect network weak points created by lapses in patch management, configuration errors, and the use of new and progressive attack techniques.

Key new features in ThreatSentry 2.0 include a fully integrated firewall which closes all ports to Blocked IPs, an inactive security mode which detects and alerts when untrusted events are identified, but does not block or take any other preventative action, and enhanced signature management that enables specific elements within target signatures to be blocked, allowed, or blocked with exceptions.

“ThreatSentry 2.0 provides the most effective, reliable and affordable intrusion detection and prevention option for administrators of Windows Web servers available today“, said Greg Salvato, Chief Executive Officer for Privacyware. “We are excited about delivering the updated version to our existing customers and look forward to demonstrating ThreatSentry’s compelling value to an expanded base of clientele.”

ThreatSentry supports Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 and Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0/6.0 platforms. Priced at $99 per server, ThreatSentry is available for purchase or 30-day trial download via the Privacyware web site: http://www.privacyware.com/intrusion_prevention.html or by contacting 732-212-8110 x232.
