Anti Virus

Click on the 'Anti-Virus' icon in the left menu to access the PC Security Suite Anti-Virus.

Periodically, Anti-Virus can be checked for updates by pressing the 'Update' button in the bottom right portion of the interface.  The files will be automatically downloaded and installed. (see below).

Before scanning, various scan options may be selected by clicking on the 'Scan Options' button.  Here is a summary of the scan options:

Scan Speed - The slower the speed, the more comprehensive the scan
Engine - PC Security Suite Offers several types of scan engines that determine how your system is scanned for viruses.  The most appropriate engine is chosen upon installation based on your configuration.  Most users will not have adjust this option.
Action if Virus found - This determines what action is taken when a virus is detected.  The recommended option is to 'Try and Repair, then Quarantine if unsuccessful'.  However, some users prefer to see all alerts as they are detected, so the most appropriate choice would be 'Prompt User for each instance' (see screenshot).  Note: The choice of 'No Action' is not recommended for normal usage as it will disable the Antivirus scanning engine.
Action if Trojan found - This determines what action is taken when a Trojan horse is detected.  The recommended option is to "Delete Trojan and remove infected macro code" (see screenshot).
Use heuristics mode - This mode is useful when scanning for newer viruses with undocumented signatures.
Use system cure - This mode is useful when scanning for less prominent infectors like worms or malicious registry entries.
Scan NTFS data stream - This is used to scan the data stream files within NTFS drives.

Click on the 'Scan' button to check for all types of viruses.  Different areas of the system can be scanned, including Memory, Boot Sector, My Computer, or customized locations labeled "User Objects".  Also, user-defined portions of the system can be scanned by checking the 'Select User Objects' box.  During the scan, several types of alerts may pop up (if 'Prompt User for each instance' was selected in the Scan Options section) depending on what type of infector was selected (see screenshots).

Once the scan is complete, Anti-Virus will display all potential infectors (see screenshot).

Depending on what option was chosen in the 'Scan Options' section, the detected infectors are either repaired, deleted, or quarantined.  If they are quarantined, you can view the contents by clicking on the 'Quarantine' button to the right of the 'Scanning' button.  From here, the quarantined items can either be restored to their original location, or deleted.
