Spyware
Scanner
Click
on the 'Spyware Scanner'
icon in the left menu to
access the
PestPatrol®
Anti-Spyware Spyware
Scanner.

Periodically, Spyware Scanner can be
checked for updates by pressing the
'Update' button in the bottom right
portion of the interface. The
files will be automatically
downloaded and installed. (see
below).

Click on the 'Scan' button to check
for all types of spyware.
Different areas of the system can be
scanned, including Memory, Registry,
Cookies, or Common locations such as
the 'My Documents' and 'My
Favorites' folders, etc. Also,
specific portions of the system can
be scanned by checking the 'Selected
Paths' box and clicking on the
'Select Folders' box. Once the
scan is complete, Spyware Scanner
will display all potential spyware
('pests') found (see below).

Unless a particular pest is
known to be safe, it is
recommended that all pests
are deleted by selecting the
checkboxes within the
results window and clicking
the 'Delete checked' button.
This will move all pests to
the Quarantine section where
they remain safely disabled
from the system. Pests
can be recovered if needed
by pressing on the 'Restore'
button, or if it has been
determined that these pests
are in fact spyware, click
on the 'Delete' button to
permanently remove them from
your system. Details
of the quarantined items can
be viewed by double-clicking
on the item or selecting the
'Log Element' button (see
below).
